Coco Robotics and Deliveroo Launch UK Autonomous Delivery Partnership

1–2 minutes

Coco Robotics and Deliveroo announced an exclusive partnership on October 5 to launch autonomous sidewalk delivery robots across the United Kingdom, beginning in London’s Canary Wharf before expanding to Milton Keynes, Leeds, Stockton-on-Tees and Nottingham.

What happened

The rollout marks Coco Robotics’ entry into the UK and Deliveroo’s first use of autonomous delivery vehicles in the country. Initial service is planned for Canary Wharf this month, with additional cities following in the coming weeks and months.

Coco’s robots are designed for short-distance urban delivery and operate at walking pace using onboard cameras, lidar, GPS and AI-driven navigation. The companies say the UK deployment will be supported by local operations, maintenance, charging and depot infrastructure.

Why it matters

The partnership is strategically relevant to autonomous logistics because Deliveroo is part of DoorDash’s global portfolio, and DoorDash is increasingly building a multimodal delivery model that combines human couriers, sidewalk robots and aerial drones.

That matters for the UAV market because drones are unlikely to operate as a standalone delivery channel at scale. Platforms that can orchestrate multiple autonomous delivery modes may have an advantage in matching each order to the most efficient vehicle, route and regulatory environment.

What to watch

  • How quickly Coco expands beyond Canary Wharf
  • Whether Deliveroo integrates robot delivery into broader autonomous-routing software
  • How the UK rollout interacts with DoorDash’s drone and robotics strategy in other markets
  • Whether restaurant and grocery partners expand autonomous fulfillment across multiple vehicle types
