September 29, 2026 — London / Eindhoven. LionVolt has opened Flight One, an early-access program that gives selected drone and UAV manufacturers pre-release access to the company’s first commercial lithium-metal cells for aircraft integration and validation.
What happened
LionVolt says the initial cells are optimized for drone and UAV applications at 400 Wh/kg at the cell level, with discharge rates tested to 5C. Selected participants receive engineering support while integrating the cells into their platforms ahead of broader availability. The program opened alongside DroneX in London on September 29–30.
Why it matters
For electric UAVs, battery mass directly competes with payload, range and endurance. Early OEM access to higher-energy cells can accelerate aircraft-level validation and give designers more flexibility to trade between mission time and useful load.
Flight One is an early-access integration program, not evidence of fleet-scale deployment. LionVolt’s performance figures are company-reported cell specifications, and the commercial impact will depend on pack-level integration, cycle life, thermal behavior and results on customer aircraft.
